Founded by Rev Bro (Pa Pa) John in 1921, Officially also known as THE DE LA SALLE INSTITUTE. It started with 38 boys in 1921, on February 1st, in Hnyet- Aw-San, the Valley of Singing Birds. It included a rubber plantation of some 1,800 acres. All images Copyright © 2006

Maynooth Missionaries - Columban Fathers ran this school and the then Mnsgr. Patrick Usher of Bhamo, requested the Superior of Generalate to take over the Myitkyina Mission school for boys. On May 27th 1959, St Columban's High School, Myitkyinar, therefore came under the Brothers' management. Eight acres of land and all the buildings on it were generously handed over to the Brothers. Two Schools were handed over to De La Salle Brothers as late as 1963. Sorry, no information in possession. Maureen Boudville who lived in Ahlone gives her observations: This was a very big two-storey wood structure which caught fire in approx 1955. It had students little & big. Had Anglo-Burmese, Burmese and Chinese students. Need more info please!
